If your vision has started to feel blurry, dim, or just not as sharp as it used to be, cataracts may be the reason. Cataracts are a normal part of aging, but they don’t have to limit how you live.
At ORA Vision, Dr. Patel offers advanced cataract surgery with a personal touch, helping you see clearly again and regain confidence in daily life.
Learn About Cataract Surgery from Dr. Patel
Cataracts are a common eye condition where the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to blurred or dim vision. They often develop gradually with age but can also result from injury, certain medications, or medical conditions like diabetes or uveitis. Cataracts can make reading, driving, or seeing clearly at night more difficult. Fortunately, cataract surgery is a safe and effective way to restore clear vision.
Cataract surgery is a quick, outpatient procedure that safely removes the cloudy lens and replaces it with a clear, artificial one. At ORA Vision, here’s what your experience includes:
Your eyes and brain work together to turn light into sight. Here’s how the miraculous process of sight works:
That’s how you see. If any part of this system is affected, especially if it’s the lens, your vision can be impacted.
As we age, the natural lens becomes cloudy and less flexible. This clouding is called a cataract, which can interrupt the entire visual process by:
Cataracts are incredibly common. In fact, nearly everyone will develop them with age. The good news? Cataracts can be treated, and your vision can be restored.
Cataracts can be caused by:

When we remove the cloudy lens, we replace it with your choice of a new intraocular lens implant (IOL). This is your opportunity to improve how you see every day, for years to come. We’ll help you select the lens that best suits your eyes, goals, and lifestyle. At ORA Vision, we are proud to offer the latest IOL technology including:
Imagine life without the constant hassle of switching glasses—or the ongoing cost of prescription lenses. At ORA Vision, we’re proud to offer multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs)—advanced lenses that help you see clearly at near, intermediate, and far distances after cataract surgery or lens replacement.
Unlike standard lenses that correct only distance vision, multifocal IOLs reduce the need for bifocals, trifocals, or progressive glasses. Multifocal IOLs can correct vision at a wide range of distances: near, far, and everything in between. Many patients enjoy reading, working, and driving without constantly reaching for their glasses.
While multifocal IOLs involve an upfront investment, they can save you money over time. Think about the ongoing expenses for prescription bifocals, trifocals, or progressive lenses:
Multifocal IOLs help reduce or eliminate these ongoing costs, making them an investment in both your vision and your wallet. Multifocal lenses are best for motivated patients who have a strong enough desire to be glasses-independent to tolerate some mild halos at night.
The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is the only lens option on the market that allows us to design, trial and customize your vision after cataract surgery. The power of the lens will be fine-tuned for your individual vision goals with light treatments after surgery. The adjustability takes cataract surgery to the next level by giving you a lens customized specifically for your eyes.
The result is extraordinarily clear 20/20 vision in the great majority of patients. The light adjustable lens does require a greater commitment from you. Because ultraviolet light changes the lens power, you will need to wear UV protective glasses provided by us until the final lock-in treatments are completed. The LAL requires three to four extra visits to our office to fine tune the vision with laser treatments.
EDOF lenses are designed to give you a continuous range of vision—especially for distance and intermediate tasks like driving, computer work, or cooking.
It’s important to know that no lens is perfect. With EDOF lenses, the trade-off is that while you get excellent distance and intermediate vision, you might still need reading glasses for small print, and some people may notice halos or glare around lights at night—but typically less than with some multifocal lenses.
Do you have astigmatism and wonder how cataract surgery might affect your vision? At ORA Vision, we offer toric intraocular lenses (IOLs)—a powerful solution designed specifically for patients with astigmatism.
Astigmatism happens when the front surface of your eye (the cornea) or the lens are shaped more like a football than a perfect sphere. This irregular shape causes blurred or distorted vision at both near and far distances.
Traditional lens implants used during cataract surgery can correct nearsightedness or farsightedness—but not astigmatism. Toric IOLs, however, are specially designed to correct the uneven curvature of the cornea. That means sharper, clearer vision without relying so heavily on glasses or contacts after cataract surgery.
Toric IOLs are an excellent option for patients with moderate to significant astigmatism who want clearer vision after cataract surgery. At ORA Vision, we’ll thoroughly evaluate your eye health, lifestyle, and visual goals to help you decide if a toric IOL is the right choice for you.

Schedule My Cataract EvaluationCataract surgery involves several precise steps that build on each other: creating microscopic incisions, breaking up the cloudy natural lens, removing the lens in small pieces, and inserting and aligning the new lens implant.
At ORA Vision, we are proud to offer femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, a cutting-edge advancement in cataract care that enhances accuracy, improves healing, and offers a more customized surgical experience for our patients.
Femtosecond laser technology brings a new level of precision to cataract surgery. Unlike traditional methods that rely on handheld instruments, this advanced laser system creates incisions and softens the cataract with meticulous accuracy, guided by real-time imaging of your eye.
Although modern cataract surgery is considered to be one of the safest and most successful procedures performed in medicine today, laser cataract surgery brings more precision and reliability to cataract surgery. From correction of low levels of astigmatism to better centration of the lens implant, laser cataract surgery adds more precision for the better outcomes
